Teigen Gayse is a popular Metis singer-songwriter whose music is fresh, yet familiar, hitting on deep and relatable topics, like her love life, in a fun, bubbly way. Growing up in “Little Prairie”, Chetwynd BC, she hopes her music will help make the town of 3000 known for more than forestry, oil, gas, mining, and ranching. Music was her escape growing up, and this singer/songwriters’ melodies and lyrics are catchy, and even Gayse’s sweet, raspy voice gets you hook, line and sinker. There’s a fun, effervescent quality about Gayse that draws in her audience, and explains why hometown friends always believed she was “going to make it”.
Settling in Kelowna to pursue an audio engineering degree and music career, and working at the OK Corral, helped to further inspire her lifelong dream of being a recording artist, which was quickly realized after recording and releasing her debut album during a pandemic that paralyzed the music industry. A tough spirit and some moxie, Teigen did whatever she could to write and record more songs, getting new music out to radio, and fans on all her socials, music streaming platforms, and even going viral on TikTok. It also helped, that her last single “I Don’t Wanna Fall In Love Anymore” hit the Billboard country music charts at #43, with a big thanks and shout out to country radio.
The last year or so would drive some to drink, and a chance meeting with some Prohibition Rose by Farmhouse Vineyards in Texas Hill Country, was the inspiration behind her upbeat new single, “Blame The Wine”, already a crowd favourite when she performs live.
It would be easy for a lot of small-town girls to give on their dreams, but Teigen is a huge advocate for helping girls everywhere go after their dreams…in all their shapes and sizes. She hopes to inspire a generation of young girls, and help others step into their power and make it on their own terms.
